Pentland Primary School - Together Learning Caring :)

Pentland Primary Gardening Club

The Gardening Club was started in October 2007 and is run by some parents of pupils in the school.

The idea is to introduce the children to gardening, get them out in the fresh air, improve the environment around the school & let them see where fruit & veg come from.

The children come along on a Friday afternoon between 2:30 & 3:30.

The club runs for a few weeks in the Autumn term and then continues in spring when we are able to sow seeds from which we harvest various fruit & veg during the holidays & into the autumn term.

One of our projects with the Eco Schools Committee was to build a greenhouse next to the outdoor classroom.  The whole school were involved in collecting used bottles & we finally collected enough to build the greenhouse which looks fantastic & has tomatoes growing in it.

Mrs Richardson & Mrs Saker run the club and so if you want any more information on getting involved you can contact them.

Here are some pictures of the results of our labours!
